On International Tribal Day, we have organized two days meeting of first  Tribal Health Research Forum (THRF) at Regional Medical Research Centre for Tribals (RMRCT), Jabalpur on 8 – 9 August 2010 to review the ICMR’s efforts on tribal health research and dedicate ourselves to their important cause.

            The first day meeting was chaired by the Secretary, DHR, MOHFW & Director General, ICMR. Divisional Heads from ICMR Dr. Lalit Kant (ECD), Shri Sanjeev Dutta, Joint Secretary, Dr. Satya Narayan (BMS), Dr. Rashmi Arora (ECD), Dr. Prashant Mathur (ECD) and Dr. Toteja (RHN) participated in the meeting. Dr. J. Mohanta,Director RMRC , NE region, Dr. S K Kar, Director RMRC, Bhuvaneswar, Dr. K. Vijyachari Director, Port Blair along with their senior scientists briefed the work carried by their institutes on tribal health. Dr. J L mishra, joint Director, Health Services, govt. of MP also presided the meeting. Representatives from other ICMR institutes and NGO also participated in the meeting. On second day Shri Maurice Kujur, Vice Chairman, National Commission for scheduled Tribes, Govt. of India was the chief guest and he delivered the presidential address on second day of the meeting. The others who addressed includes the Secretary, DHR, Govt. of India & DG, Financial advisor, ICMR, Dr. Lalit Kant, Dr. K D Baghel, Dean, NSCB Medical college( Guest of Honor) and Shri Netam, Addl. Commissioner & Director PTG, Govt. of MP (Guest of Honor). Next meeting was proposed to be held at RMRC , NE region, Dibrugarh.
